American businessman and founder of Energy Transfer Partners and Chief Executive Officer of Energy Transfer Equity, Kelcy Warren, has had an impressive career spanning over three decades. He began by working on pipeline projects in the oil and gas industry.
He moved up to being an executive in charge of natural gas traders for Enron before he founded his own company, Energy Transfer Partners, L.P., in 1995. In 2006, Energy Transfer Equity, L.P. was listed on NYSE and has been one of the most profitable companies in the world since that time. The company is now ranked number one in its field, with a turnover of $5.67 billion and a profit margin of 22 percent.
Kelcy Warren lives with his wife and three daughters in Dallas, Texas. He enjoys spending time at his Jim Wells County farm near the Gulf Coast of Texas. He has been a strong supporter of politics and politicians of both parties. He is a member of the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness and the President’s Export Council.
Education:
Kelcy Warren holds a degree from Yale University with a B.A in economics and an M.B.A from Harvard University with an emphasis in finance. He is a member of the Texas and Quinnipiac business school boards of trustees.
Warren received the Distinguished Alumni Award for twenty-five years of service from Yale University’s School of Management. He was also elected to the Wall Street Journal’s Forty Under 40 list in April 2008.
As a young child, Kelcy Warren was involved in the Boy Scouts and spent one year as district executive for the Order of the Arrow. He was elected to both the Board of Directors and the National Executive Board of The Boy Scouts of America. He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
Warren was a leader for the Boy Scouts in STEM education. He also served as a peer advisor for the James Madison High School organization, where he helped develop their science, math, and engineering curriculum and competed in national competitions. Warren has volunteered at John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts and is a member of the board of advisors for The Dallas Chamber Orchestra. See this page for more information.
