Alliance Defending Freedom was started in 1994 by Christian leaders, initially as Alliance Defense Fund. It is the largest global legal organization whose purpose is to protect religious freedom, free speech, marriage, family, parental rights, and the sanctity of life. It defends other religious communities, such as Mormons, Muslims, Jews, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and people with no faith. Apart from supporting other religions, they also protect pro-life, conservatives, and libertarians.
Religious freedom extends to all people, with the government having limited power. ADF ensures that people can live with their religious convictions in public, just as, at home and in worship places. Alliance Defending Freedom believes in marriage between a man and a woman and that sex is binary and biologically determined. This belief is constitutionally accepted by the Supreme Court, enabling people with the same belief, not to fear approaching the government.
Alliance Defending freedom supports the freedom of students to express their views and ideas in colleges and universities. It protected Michelle Gregoire, who was forming the Young Americans for Liberty club at Kellog Community College and got arrested. It also defends human life by safeguarding life through its natural process, and women and children are protected. Jesse Lay’s life was defended by ADF when he was in a coma and woke up five months later after his ordeal.
Parents have the right to protect their children’s health, welfare, and upbringing; with the help of Alliance Defending Freedom, they exercise these rights freely.
Alliance Defending Freedom is accredited by the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the European Parliament and Commission, and the Organization of American States, for its good work in defending religious rights.
