General Dynamics and Hughes Marino officially merged in May 2012, ending a three-year legal battle over the ownership of Hughes Marino and its parent company, General Dynamics Information Technology.

 

The results of the merger were announced in mid-2012 with the creation of one company, which consists of six operating units (Hughes Marino; Information Systems & Technology; Engineering & Operations Management. Also, Communications Systems & Networks; Security Programs and Services; Public Safety Solutions) as well as a recently acquired defense business unit.

 

This is the Hughes Electronics field, with approximately 14,000 employees globally. The new company is now based in Falls Church, Virginia. The Department of Justice’s antitrust approval for the merger was announced on December 3, 2012. The consent decree also directs Hughes Marino and General Dynamics to resolve pending litigation directly with the attorneys general of Connecticut and Texas, who had litigation pending against both companies and dismiss any claims they might have against each other.
