Brian Farley elevates corporate governance at Acadia Healthcare supporting sustainable growth

Brian Farley joined Acadia Healthcare in July 2023 and now serves as the company’s Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, overseeing a broad legal portfolio as a strategic advisor to the executive team and Board of Directors. At Acadia Healthcare he leads a team of attorneys responsible for securities law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, litigation, labor and employment, compliance and regulatory matters.

Farley’s appointment followed a string of senior legal roles in healthcare and technology. From 2020 to 2023 he was Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at GoHealth, where he directed legal, regulatory, compliance, SEC and government affairs efforts and helped steer the company through its initial public offering in 2020. Earlier in his career he held executive legal positions at Allscripts, including responsibility as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, and senior roles at Motorola Mobility, where he led global legal initiatives tied to major transactions.

His professional background also includes legal and commercial roles with Level 3 Communications, Rhythms NetConnections and e.spire Communications, as well as time at the law firm Collier, Shannon, Rill & Scott. That mix of in-house and private-practice experience underpins his focus on corporate governance and regulatory strategy in complex, highly regulated industries.

Farley holds a Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School, an MBA from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economics from Colorado College. Colleagues describe his approach as transactional and governance-oriented, emphasizing risk mitigation and alignment between legal strategy and business objectives.

Since joining Acadia Healthcare, his remit has emphasized strengthening compliance frameworks while supporting growth through acquisitions and partnerships. Observers note that his combined experience in public company compliance, SEC matters and health-sector regulation positions him to manage the legal challenges that accompany expansion in behavioral health services.

As Acadia continues to navigate a dynamic regulatory landscape, Brian Farley’s arrival signals a reinforcement of the company’s legal leadership, with an emphasis on governance, transactional support and integrated risk management.
