Quality
The quality score and the patient safety index are two indicators of quality. The quality score measures performance over time, with a higher score indicating better performance and a lower score worse. The patient safety index is a single number from 0 to 10, with indexes over 3.5 considered good, under 3.0 considered poor and between 3.0-3.4 average. Health Carousel calculates both of these indicators for five aspects of care – heart attack, cardiac arrest, pneumonia and surgical care – as well as the overall measure of quality for each hospital in each country it covers.
Political Activity
Health Carousel was used to provide political pressure on South Korean President Park Geun-hye. In a recent poll published in The New York Times, Health Carousel scored 92% on corruption, 28% on healthcare and 49% on environment.
