Education and Work Life
Damien Granderson is an alumnus of Albany law school. He attended law school for four years, from 2000. In the early years of his career, the attorney practiced corporate law before venturing into the music industry. His first big gig as an entertainment lawyer was when he landed a job with Koch Entertainment as its legal representative.
During one of the contract sign-ins, Damien met his friend and soon-to-be business associate, Blake. Soon after, Damien shifted working spaces to Davis Shapiro, where he stayed for seven years before quitting to start something of his. He and Guy Blake established the Granderson Des Rochers law firm, whose primary role is negotiating deals for established and upcoming artists. Granderson Des Roches specializes in contracts with record companies or brands.
Achievements
Damien has worked with renowned hip-hop, pop, and RnB artists. Some of his notable works were when he mediated the Gucci endorsement deal with Asap Rocky, J Cole’s collaboration with Puma, and Neyo’s bargain with LUM. Damien Granderson explains that this latter was a social media and streaming app.
