Nick Millican: Is There a New Way to List Properties?

Nick Millican and other U.K. real estate experts have long been proactive when it comes to inventing new strategies for selling properties. However, the market is full of surprises. This means that new tactics are able to appear from nowhere in order to take even the pros by surprise.

The issue at hand seems to be the new phenomenon known as “ghost” listings. This is a tactic in which a property suddenly appears on the web. However, this is almost all that appears. No clear address is listed. Nick Millican adds that sometimes the name and info of the seller are not included. In many cases, no photos of the property can be seen.

To cap it all off, even though the property appears online, it is still listed as “off market”. These are the sorts of shenanigans that can drive experts such as Nick Millican and others up a wall.

Still, even with no floor plans or other info, these listings are getting bites, Nick Millican states. The tactic of “ghosting” is one that seems to be catching on. But does it have any staying power? (Twitter).

Is this a flash in the pan that is only getting traction because of a currently convoluted market? At the moment, no one is sure how to proceed. Some experts speculate that this is simply a way of giving potential buyers a clue that the property in question is very exclusive. According to real estate expert Nick Millican, the lack of info is a way of weeding out the riff raff. Whether this proves effective remains to be seen.
